‘For the successful hosting of the 2024 Gangwon Winter Youth Olympics’
Acting People Power Party leader Jae-ok Yoon, Policy Committee Chairman Yoo Yu-dong, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Yoo In-chon, Gangwon Province Governor Kim Jin-tae, and 2024 Gangwon Winter Youth Olympics Organizing Committee Chairman Choi Jong-gu held a meeting at the National Assembly in Seoul on the morning of the 18th. The 2024 Gangwon Winter Youth Olympic Games Organizing Committee announced on the 19th that it signed a win-win business agreement with Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province and the Gangwon Economic Organization Federation.

The organizing committee also decided to hold a torch lighting event with Yangyang High School students at an indoor gym in Yangyang-gun, Gangwon-do on the 20th.After the lighting ceremony, various cultural performances follow.
In addition, in collaboration with UNICEF, 10,000 copies of promotional material informing people of the human rights relief process for the Games and 6,000 copies of explanatory materials on the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child will be distributed starting on the 20th.
The 2024 Gangwon Winter Youth Olympic Games will be held in Pyeongchang, Gangneung, Jeongseon, and Hoengseong in Gangwon-do from January 19 to February 1 next year.
About 1,900 athletes from 80 countries will compete in 7 games, 15 events, and 81 specific events.
The organizing committee said, “This tournament plans to hold not only sports events, but also various cultural events such as K-pop concerts so that it can be a place where youth around the world can respect and unite.”
