Right-handed pitcher Jo Min-seok (25, Sangmu) won the Rookie of the Year award in the Futures (2nd team) League of Professional Baseball for two consecutive months.
The Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) announced on the 3rd that it had selected Min-seok Cho and Samsung Lions infielder Hyun-jun Lee (23) as the June Mediheal Futures Rookie of the Year award winners.
After receiving the Rookie of the Year award in May, Jo Min-seok continued to show consistent performance and enjoyed the honor of winning the award for two consecutive months.
In June, Jo Min-seok recorded a WAR of 0.67 compared to a replacement player, with 3 wins, 1 loss, and an ERA of 2.35 in 23 innings pitched in 4 games.
In May, he recorded 2 wins in 3 games with a WAR of 0.96 and an ERA of 1.06.
Jo Min-seok joined the NC Dinos in the 9th round of the 2nd round in 2022 and is currently wearing the Sangmu uniform for his military service.
Jo Min-seok said, "At the awards ceremony last month, I said that I would work hard to receive another award, and I think it is the result of my hard work and preparation," and added, "I will continue to work hard to show my growth during the remaining period."
Hyun-Jun Lee, who won the batting award, is a rookie who joined Samsung in the 8th round, 74th overall pick of the 2024 rookie draft.
Hyun-Jun Lee recorded a batting average of 0.373, an on-base percentage of 0.407, and a WAR of 0.49 in 17 games in June.
Lee Hyun-jun said, "At first, after joining the team, I had a hard time finding the timing for my changeups, but I tried to improve with the coaches' advice." He added, "I wasn't really conscious of my performance, but I'm happy to have received an award."
Jo Min-seok and Lee Hyeon-jun will receive a trophy, prize money of 500,000 won, and Mediheal products worth 500,000 won.
This award, newly established this year, is for pitchers and batters in their 1st to 3rd year of service who have filled the Futures League required innings and plate appearances, and the winner is selected based on WAR.
