Korean fencing team member Oh Sang-wook reveals the contents of the box he received with his gold medal from the IOC (Organizing Committee of the Olympic Games).

Oh Sang-wook, the national team member who won Korea’s first gold medal in fencing at the 2024 Paris Olympics, has revealed the contents of the mysterious box he received along with his medal.

On the 28th, Oh Sang-wook posted a photo of the poster on his Instagram with the caption, “What will I use this medal for?”

On this day, Oh Sang-wook won the men’s sabre individual final at the Paris Olympics held at the Grand Palais in Paris, France, defeating Fares Ferzani (Tunisia) 15-11. Along with the gold medal, he also received a long, golden box.

When a reporter asked Oh Sang-wook, "Do you know what the content is?", he said, "I don't know the details, but I think it's a poster related to the Grand Palais where the event was held," and "I'll reveal what it is through social networking services (SNS)."

According to the British media outlet 'Metro', the poster was created by French illustrator Hugo Gattoni.

He spent over 2,000 hours over 6 months on it, and there are 8 official Olympic mascots hidden in the poster.

Oh Sang-wook expressed his gratitude to the nation by posting, "Thank you so much for cheering me on until late at night" while revealing the poster that day. Oh Sang-wook is also preparing for the fencing team event. The Korean men's sabre team, consisting of Oh Sang-wook, Koo Bon-gil, and Park Sung-won, is aiming for its 4th consecutive victory in the competition as the world's No.
