Korea Football Association President Chung Mong-gyu met with FIFA President Gianni Infantino in Paris, France.

FIFA President Infantino posted several photos taken with Chairman Chung on his social media on the 7th (Korean time).
According to Infantino’s post, the two met on the 6th (local time) and discussed the ‘Homeless World Cup’ and the ‘FIFA Forward Program’.
President Infantino opened the post by saying, “I am very happy to meet my old friend, President Chung Mong-gyu of the Korea Football Association, at the FIFA office in Paris, France.”
He said, “I am very grateful that President Chung Mong-gyu and the Korea Football Association are helping to develop football not only in Korea but also around the world,” and mentioned the ‘Homeless World Cup’ to be held in Seoul next month. The Homeless World
Cup is a global football competition in which poor families aged 15 or older in housing blind spots compete as national representatives. It began in 2003 and is now in its 19th year.
The ‘2024 Seoul Homeless World Cup’ will be the first to be held in Asia, and a total of 64 teams from 49 countries and approximately 500 players will participate. President Infantino said, “I am delighted that the Homeless World Cup will be held in Korea in September,” and added, “Football has a social responsibility to provide everyone with an opportunity to participate in the game. He also said, “Chairman Chung and I deeply sympathize with the fact that football has the power to unite a divided world .” He continued, “I am proud that the ‘FIFA Forward Program’ can greatly contribute to the Korea Football Association building a new football center.” The FIFA Forward Program is a project that supports the development of football in 211 member countries around the world with FIFA’s profits. It is known that it has provided approximately 9.9 million dollars (13.6 billion won) to Korea from 2016 to 2022. The Korea Football Association is currently building the Korea Football Center in Cheonan. It is scheduled to be completed in 2025. Finally, Chairman Infantino expressed his gratitude for Chairman Chung Mong-gyu’s handwritten letter in his memoir, “The Age of Football,” saying, “It is an honor.”
