At the closing ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics held at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis, France on the 11th (local time), actor Tom Cruise of the United States (LA), the next host country, is performing a stunt fall from the air.

The '2024 Paris Olympics' has come to a grand close after 17 days of competition.

At 4 am on the 12th (Korean time), the closing ceremony of the Paris Olympics was held at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis, Paris, France.

Paris, France successfully held its third Olympic Games in 100 years, following 1900 and 1924.

This year's Olympic opening ceremony was held outdoors for the first time ever, not in a stadium. The opening ceremony began with a parade on the Seine River that runs through Paris on the 27th of last month. However, unlike the opening ceremony, there was no specific order of appearance for the closing ceremony.

On this day, the closing ceremony flag bearers for Korea were Park Tae-jun (Kyunghee University), gold medalist in the men's 58 kg taekwondo class, and Lim Ae-ji (Hwasun County Office), the first Korean female boxer to win an Olympic medal in the women's 54 kg boxing class (bronze medal).

At the opening ceremony, Woo Sang-hyeok (Yongin City Hall) in track and field and Kim Seo-yeong (Gyeongbuk Provincial Office) in swimming served as flag bearers for the athletes, making Korea the 48th country to appear.

Since the Korean national team participated in this competition with the smallest number of athletes (144) in 48 years for a Summer Olympics, it was expected to win 5 gold medals and finish 15th overall. However, led by MVP Kim Woo-jin (Cheongju City Hall) and Im Si-hyeon (Korea National Sport University), Korea achieved the standard by sweeping all events (5 gold medals) in archery. In addition, fencing men's sabre, led by Oh Sang-wook (Daejeon Metropolitan City Hall), produced two gold medalists in the individual and team events, and An Se-young (Samsung Life Insurance) also won a gold medal in badminton.

In unexpected events, there were three gold medals in shooting (Ban Hyo-jin, Oh Ye-jin, Yang Ji-in) and two gold medals in taekwondo (Park Tae-jun, Kim Yu-jin).

In addition to 13 gold medals, they also won nine silver medals and ten bronze medals, for a total of 32 medals, finishing the competition in eighth place overall.

This was the second-highest number of medals ever, after the 33 medals won in the 1988 Seoul Games. The United States took first place with 40 gold medals, 44 silver medals, and 42 bronze medals, for a total of 126 medals. China came in second with 40 gold medals, 27 silver medals, and 24 bronze medals, for a total of 91 medals. Host country France won 16 gold, 26 silver, and 22 bronze medals, for a total of 64 medals, ranking 5th overall.

The next competition will be held in Los Angeles, USA, in 2028, four years later.

The closing ceremony ended with the transfer of the competition flag to the LA Olympic Organizing Committee. During the transfer of the competition flag, American actor Tom Cruise attracted attention by showing off wire action and motorcycle action.
